First Commercial Time-Tabled Steam Train started in Indian Railways on dt. 23.09.2018 on broad gauge section between GARHI HARSARU - FARUKH NAGAR
After steam traction stopped on Indian Railway track, it is the first time that timetabled train throughout the year has been started at normal fair of `10/- from Garhi Harsaru and Farukhnagar on dt. 23.09.2018, Sunday at 09:30 hrs.
To fulfil the commitment by Chairman Railway Board during his visit to Farukhnagar dt. 29.03.2018, the weekly steam train “Swachhata Express”was inaugurated and flagged off on dt. 15.09.2018 by CRB Shri Ashwani Lohani alongwith GM Northern Railway, PCME – Sh. Arun Arora and DRM/DLI. It is envisaged that the tourists and steam enthusiasts from all over the world shall visit these places for a ride on steam engines hauled train, increasing tourism related activities in the region.
Presently the train is being hauled by WP7200 AZAD, a broad gauge 1947, make steam locomotive. The locomotive has been restored to its pristine beauty and mechanical engineering perfections. Its revival has been carried out at Heritage Steam Shed, Rewari and DEMU-Shed, Shakurbasti with great efforts.
During the steam train run at Farukhnagar, the Public enthusiasm is visible. People are highly excited. Train timings are indicated as :-

It is a great day in the history of Indian Railways that Heritage is being preserved and its display and ride is now open to public at a normal fare of Rs. 10/- only.
